Book Review

The Way of the Brave (Global Search and Rescue Book #1)

I was excited to read The Way of the Brave by Susan May Warren but… this book was not for me.

The story was good. The characters interesting.  Lots of tension. Great romance. The writing was even better!  So, why wasn’t this book a favorite for me?

Both characters are mountain climbers and the story revolves around mountain climbing. Susan May Warren does an amazing job of creating word pictures that got me right up on that mountain with them. And that’s the problem. I’m not an outdoorsy-type person. I have absolutely no interest in mountain climbing, whether it be on a mountain or in my armchair reading.  So unfortunately, this wasn’t a book that I particularly enjoyed but… if you’re more adventurous than me, it might be just the book you’re looking for. And it won’t stop me from reading another Susan May Warren book–she’s an awesome writer.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an unbiased review.

God Bless and Good Reading!

  1. God’s blessings for sharing an honest review ma’am. It seems that when we receive a book to review, be that from author or publisher, it comes with an unwritten request to provide a sterling review. lauding its virtues. I appreciate seeing that a review can be kind, yet honest (i.e. a good book, but it just wasn’t material that I enjoyed). This doesn’t make it a bad book, just maybe not a great read for someone who doesn’t enjoy adventure, the outdoors, etc. Applaud your honesty ma’am. Your agreement was to read and review. Am certain Ms. Susan May Warren will appreciate your integrity. I certainly do ma’am.
